The idea of carrying spare magazines in addition to your firearm is often overlooked. Most assume only what’s in their weapon will suffice. Ideally, we aim for the most lightweight, yet efficient everyday carry configuration; however, sometimes you need to carry more to truly be prepared.

Ah, the best for last! If you read this far, you have moved from “reader” to “almost friend,” and a small gift in this area would seal the deal. No, I don’t have enough guns, and truly who ever has enough guns? A 7.62/308 AR – the DPMS Panther looks like a great fit for my needs. This rifle has the classic look with the added punch of the .308 round, something that is sure to "jing-a-ling" this holiday season.

If you’re carrying a firearm, your EDC should also include a trauma kit. It doesn’t matter how big or what type. It needs to be with you. Statistically, you are more likely to face a medical emergency than a gunfight. Having a medical kit on your person can be invaluable for use on yourself or another individual.

I was quick to ask "Please don't tell me it's a polymer XD or XDM." Jerry laughed and said: “Of course not, it’s a 1911, but better!” According to Jerry, he purchased the new 10mm version of the Springfield Armory 1911 Tactical Response Pistol or TRP.

L.L. practices with two different Glocks. The full-size Glock 19 in 9mm is her warm-up pistol. She then switches to the full-size Glock 43 in 9mm. She’ll be able to transition between the two for her choice in concealed carry. The Glock 43 is currently her house gun as she continues to practice and perfect her shooting fundamentals.

The FNS-9 first launched in early 2016. The FNS is a striker fired, polymer frame pistol. Although it’s roughly the same size as the Glock 19, it feels slimmer than a Glock, which is a plus for those who have smaller hands. It’s compact and with the right holster, you can easily conceal it.

The Raging Hunters we used were carrying the TruGlo® New 30MM Red dot sight. This sight was just right for what we were using it for, shooting at distances out to approximately fifty yards.

Benchmade has created possibly the ultimate production EDC knife complete with an anodized titanium billet as a handle material. The result is likely the lightest full-sized folding knife you've ever held.

The Triage, although a bit large as far as EDC knives go, also fits most every day mentalities, thereby covering all three key areas as far as knives go - EDC, tactical and rescue. It's rare to see a knife check all three boxes at the same time and come out looking this seamless. I would venture a guess this is the very reason Benchmade chose the "Triage" name for this knife.

The Benchmade Rift is a stylish EDC / Tactical knife that will be a welcome addition to your every day carry kit. The strengths here are an unforgettable Osborne design and a reverse tanto blade that offers added strength over the more common drop point.

The M16 is one of the most iconic rifles with a strikingly modern design. The first units issued arrived with American troops to Vietnam in 1963. The initial production model was designated as the M16A1. Over the years, many variants have been released. The slimmer 5.56mm round is only half the weight of the 7.62x39 cartridge.

In the firearms industry there are four rules everyone should know and exercise to ensure both personal safety and the safety of those around us. Often, this is assumed as common knowledge; however, beginners may not be aware of the importance of each rule. No matter your skill level, we must all live by these rules to maintain a safe shooting environment.

The first Otis product I tried was the simple Otis 12-22 Cal Micro Cleaning Kit. I was sent the .17-.22 rimfire cable, but I had to use it on a .22, as I don’t own a .17 caliber anything. I started on THE basic rifle - a .22 rimfire bolt gun.

There’s no denying the optics are crystal clear in both the Nikon P-Tactical and Nikon M-Tactical series of riflescopes, with the kind of edge-to-edge color rendition and contrast that reflect the quality we’ve come to expect from Nikon. You can’t go wrong in choosing either line, but there are advantages with the latter, and the reasons they carry a slightly higher MSRP are easy to understand.

For a couple weeks, I’ve been trying out the AR500 XL Basic Plate Carrier. This is a heavy duty AR500 steel designed to protect major organs. Recently, I had the privilege of testing a new red dot, the Nikon P-Tactical SPUR Reflex Sight. This sight was announced during this year’s industry only trade show in Las Vegas known as the SHOT SHOW, but it did not start shipping for sale until a few months later. Despite this optic being Nikon’s first attempt at an illuminated red dot reflex sight, I could tell right away based off having tested dozens of red dots in the past, the SPUR had a solid construction and well thought out design.

In today’s technologically driven, overly complicated world, it’s nice to find a product that is simple to use, affordable and performs as advertised. The SIG Sauer Kilo1200 Laser Rangefinder is one of those products. Open carry allows you options that are otherwise unavailable with other forms of carry. For instance, most OWB holsters include level II and level III retention. To break this down, level II utilizes retention along the trigger guard that is disengaged by a single release, like the BLACKHAWK! Serpa Level II.
