Why You Need A Trauma Kit

December 06, 2018

If you’re carrying a firearm, your EDC should also include a trauma kit. It doesn’t matter how big or what type. It needs to be with you. Statistically, you are more likely to face a medical emergency than a gunfight. Having a medical kit on your person can be invaluable for use on yourself or another individual.

L.L. practices with two different Glocks. The full-size Glock 19 in 9mm is her warm-up pistol. She then switches to the full-size Glock 43 in 9mm. She’ll be able to transition between the two for her choice in concealed carry. The Glock 43 is currently her house gun as she continues to practice and perfect her shooting fundamentals.

FNS-9 Review

FNS-9 Review

November 27, 2018

The FNS-9 first launched in early 2016. The FNS is a striker fired, polymer frame pistol. Although it’s roughly the same size as the Glock 19, it feels slimmer than a Glock, which is a plus for those who have smaller hands. It’s compact and with the right holster, you can easily conceal it.

Benchmade Triage 917BK Knife Review

Benchmade Triage 917BK Knife Review

November 20, 2018

The Triage, although a bit large as far as EDC knives go, also fits most every day mentalities, thereby covering all three key areas as far as knives go - EDC, tactical and rescue. It's rare to see a knife check all three boxes at the same time and come out looking this seamless. I would venture a guess this is the very reason Benchmade chose the "Triage" name for this knife.

The initial production model was designated as the M16A1. Over the years, many variants have been released. The slimmer 5.56mm round is only half the weight of the 7.62x39 cartridge.

Otis 17-22 Cal Micro Cleaning Kit Review

Otis 17-22 Cal Micro Cleaning Kit Review

October 23, 2018

The first Otis product I tried was the simple Otis 12-22 Cal Micro Cleaning Kit. I was sent the .17-.22 rimfire cable, but I had to use it on a .22, as I don’t own a .17 caliber anything. I started on THE basic rifle - a .22 rimfire bolt gun.

Nikon M-Tactical vs. P-Tactical Riflescopes

Nikon M-Tactical vs. P-Tactical Riflescopes

October 22, 2018

There’s no denying the optics are crystal clear in both the Nikon P-Tactical and Nikon M-Tactical series of riflescopes, with the kind of edge-to-edge color rendition and contrast that reflect the quality we’ve come to expect from Nikon. You can’t go wrong in choosing either line, but there are advantages with the latter, and the reasons they carry a slightly higher MSRP are easy to understand.

Nikon P-Tactical SPUR Reflex Sight Review

Nikon P-Tactical SPUR Reflex Sight Review

October 15, 2018

Recently, I had the privilege of testing a new red dot, the Nikon P-Tactical SPUR Reflex Sight. This sight was announced during this year’s industry only trade show in Las Vegas known as the SHOT SHOW, but it did not start shipping for sale until a few months later. Despite this optic being Nikon’s first attempt at an illuminated red dot reflex sight, I could tell right away based off having tested dozens of red dots in the past, the SPUR had a solid construction and well thought out design.

Open Vs. Concealed Carry

Open Vs. Concealed Carry

October 11, 2018

Open carry allows you options that are otherwise unavailable with other forms of carry. For instance, most OWB holsters include level II and level III retention. To break this down, level II utilizes retention along the trigger guard that is disengaged by a single release, like the BLACKHAWK! Serpa Level II.
