    The TLR-1 HL is an extremely bright (800 lumen) light which works well for medium to large handguns as well as rifles. It is very well-made and comes with adapters to fit Picatinny as well as Glock and other proprietary rail slots. The light itself is a bit on the larger side for pistol use, so it's best suited for pistols with 4" barrel or larger. You could use it on a compact pistol, but it would stick out quite a bit in the front. I compared the TLR-1 HL to the non-HL version (300 lumen) and the difference in brightness is definitely noticeable. The trade-off is battery life (1.75 hours vs 2.5 hours for the non-HL), but in my opinion the added brightness is worth it.
